PASSION

Good Evening!! Why do the weekends always fly by so fast?? At least I have no school tomorrow since it’s MLK day!! I think the fiancé and I are going to look for wedding bands (as in rings, not music)! I’m excited!!

This morning at church, we talked about Passion. Not worldly passions, like running, food, baking, etc. but passions that God gave you, FOR him. It really got me thinking about what my passion is that God gave me and I instantly knew. My passion is: Missions, specifically Medical Missions. I have such a place in my heart for the underprivileged and impoverished who:

1. Have never heard the the word of God

2. Have never seen or rarely see any medical providers, especially those with preventable or treatable diseases.

I mentioned the other day that I have been to the Dominican Republic twice on a Medical Mission trip. I went with my nursing school and the Foundation For Peace. It was such an amazing experience, and I could talk about it all day. For brevity, we cared for so many people who have never, ever had any medical care and were able to spread the great word of God!! We went to one Haitian village that had a witch doctor and a Pentecostal church, and we were able to show all the non-believers just how awesome God’s love is and were able to worship with those who were believers!

This is when we were teaching all the kids how to play Duck, Duck, Goose!

This is the line people were waiting in to get seen by us!

This is at the mountain village. Again, look at all those people waiting to get to see us!

This is what their homes looked like inside.

The experience was AMAZING!! I can’t even describe the thankfulness these people expressed to us!! I think the first trip is what really opened up my heart to medical missions. I am truly looking forward to going on many more and am just waiting for God to bring me the right opportunity!  If you want to know anymore about this, I would love to talk!!

What’s your PASSION??

On another note… my eats today weren’t that exciting but I will share anyway!! I had lunch at my parent’s house after church:

003

I had a grilled cheese, some home made veggie soup that was delish, and a pickle! Yum!!

004

I love home made soup!

005

Mmmm, cheesy! I am not a fan of Kraft or Velveeta cheese slices so I use shredded cheese to make my grilled cheese sandwiches!

006

And 2 Pecan Shortbread cookies that my mom had just made! These are awesome!!

I didn’t take pics of my snacks because they were basically the same as yesterday. I had Hot Tea, Quaker Oat Squares, and a couple bites of cornbread(very addicting!!).

I didn’t really feel like cooking dinner for just myself, so I threw together a few things.

009

I had a mashed sweet potato with a small bit of butter and brown sugar, a slice of cornbread, and some chips and salsa.

007

With a Shock top on the side!! This dinner was quick, easy, and delicious!! I may have something for dessert, I may not. I’m pretty full from dinner!!

I am currently watching The Golden Globes, waiting for 24 to come on! I have actually never watched 24, but Erin told me I needed to watch it, so I am tonight!! Looking forward to it!!

That’s all I got for tonight!! Have a great evening!!
